People with SENSORY disabilities

Who: All people with hearing disabilities and visual impairments regardless of age, experience or athletic ability.

What: TRFA offers individual and group rowing and or paddling lessons to people with sensory disabilities.

When: Private lessons can be arranged by contacting Tony Kuhn at Each lesson runs 90 minutes and can be scheduled Monday-Friday from the hours of 9:00AM-400PM and Saturday’s and Sunday’s from 10:00AM-4:00PM

Where: TRFA lessons are located at the Texas Rowing Center, 1541 W. Cesar Chavez St.

Why: TRFA coaches and staff are able to work with the hearing and visual impaired to offer a successful experience teaching all about the sports of rowing and paddling. TRFA has adaptive equipment that will allow each individual to succeed at a high level. If desired, TRFA coaches can set up a training plan to prepare themselves for local regattas.

Pricing: Private rowing and paddling lessons cost $30 per 90 minute lesson. Group paddle outings cost $10 per 90 minute lesson.


TRFA has a rowing crew of people with visual impairments who train on Saturday mornings from 10:00-11:30AM. Coach Kevin Mullens works with each rowing preparing them for upcoming rowing competitions.

If interested in joining the crew we will set up private lessons to get you up to speed and then you will be able to join the crew. 

In 2018 our three members of the crew competed in the Heart of Texas and the Texas Rowing Championships.
